I have been a long time resident of the Harrisburg Pennsylvania area and one question I am asked a lot by those who are visiting our area or moving into our area is where they can find emergency medical care if they should need it.

We are fortunate in this area that we have many fine medical establishments for people to choose from. My post today will list some for you...so if you are planning a vacation or moving to this area, you can indeed find some great emergency medical care.

PinnacleHealth owns 2 full-service hospitals in our area. One is called Harrisburg Hospital which is located down in the inner city of Harrisburg and the other one is called Community General Hospital which is located in a suburb of Harrisburg known to locals as Union Deposit Area. Out of the two, I personally prefer using Community General Hospital for most things. Anything life-threatening...I would use Harrisburg Hospital or Hershey Medical Center.

Holy Spirit Hospital in Camp Hill

Holy Spirit Hospital Used to be one of our favorite hospitals in the area. However, the past few years their ER has really gone down hill. Every time we've been there the past few years the ER wait is really long...I'm talking 4+ hours to just see the emergency room doctor.  It's a good hospital that offers great medical care but the ER wait time is really out of control. The hospital is located in Camp Hill, Pennsylvania which is about a 5-10 minute drive from the city. It is located in a very nice suburb area and is a full-service hospital with a Cardiac Health Center too.

Hershey Medical Center is our area's largest hospital and is well known around the world. It is a full-service hospital for both adults and pediatrics along with a nice cancer center/hospital. Hershey Medical Center is located about a 15 minute drive from downtown Harrisburg in the city of Hershey, Pennsylvania. This hospital also has the famous Children's House and a Ronald McDonald House for the families who need those services.
