We love the south Jersey Shore and visit the North Wildwood area a few times every year. Matter of fact, we are hoping to retire to the North Wildwood New Jersey area in about 10 years. When we are down in Wildwood we always pay a visit to the beautiful Hereford Inlet Lighthouse which is located in North Wildwood. If you ask me, this is the prettiest part of the entire Wildwood Island.
We have toured the inside of the lighthouse a few times and it does cost you to do that. However, you can walk all around the lighthouse for FREE. They have beautiful flower gardens, butterfly gardens, a gazebo and numerous garden benches that you can sit on to take in all of the beautiful sites around the lighthouse.
If you walk to the back side of the lighthouse you will find even more beautiful flower gardens and there is an old Wildwood wooden life guard row boat that you can sit in for photo taking purposes.
Behind the lighthouse is the cement seawall boardwalk which you can walk on to see the beautiful Atlantic Ocean and the Hereford Inlet. There are some wooden benches you can sit on and enjoy the sites too.
If you have never visited this lighthouse, it really is a must-see! The views of the beach and ocean from behind the lighthouse are absolutely breath-taking and we love to walk up there and sit for a few hours every time we visit the area. Enjoy!
