Planning a Summer Road Trip from Pennsylvania to Florida

Wildwood New Jersey

Hubby and I are planning a 3 week long Summer road trip this year as our main summer vacation. We plan on starting out our road trip in Hershey Pennsylvania and will hopefully end up in Orlando Florida.

We have a lot to do before we leave for our summer vacation and I need to head out to the luggage store and pick up two new sets of luggage. Once I have that complete, I am going to pick up a new GPS navigator for us too...ours seems to be on it's last legs. After that, I have to pick up some travel-size toiletries, some new clothing and a few other errands to complete. It's always best to plan ahead and I always start vacation preparation about 3 weeks before we leave.

We will be starting our trip in Hershey Pennsylvania and then will be crossing over into New Jersey. We want to spend a few days down out our beach house which is located in Wildwood. We will then head into Cape May and take the ferry over to Lewes Delaware.

Virginia Beach VA

Once in Delaware...we will drive down the coast and go into Virginia and spend a few days in Virginia Beach visiting with my brother-in-law and his family. We will then hit the road again and go through North Carolina, South Carolina and into Savannah Georgia. We plan on spending about 5 days in Savannah seeing the sights and hitting up the tourist destinations. We love good old fashioned southern charm, so Savannah is in our "must see" list.

Once we are done there...we will be heading into Florida and driving down to Orlando. Hubby wants to spend a week in Orlando checking out Disney World, the Orlando Zoo, Universal Studios and Epcot Center. We are hoping to drive up to Cocoa Beach one day and just laze around on their gorgeous beach for a few hours too.

We are going to allow 3 days for the drive back home since we don't plan on doing any tourist attractions on the way back. I am keeping my fingers crossed that we have a great vacation. Do you have any summer vacation plans? Got any road trip tips to share with us?
