Wildwood New Jersey Water Tower |
Water towers...they are every where up and down the New Jersey coast. I swear that ever town we go through has one and they all pretty much look the same. If you live in one of these coastal Jersey Shore towns...the water towers are just part of the every day landscape. For visitors and tourists...well, they are an attraction and picture taking opportunity.
On a recent trip to the Jersey Shore we saw the water towers in Ocean City, Avalon, Stone Harbor, Wildwood and Cape May. Yup, we saw them all! They are all a pale blue color and you can't miss them! Not only that, they all have the city's name and sometimes a logo on them.
Today I am featuring just two of these iconic symbols from the south Jersey Shore...the Wildwood and the Cape May water towers. As you can see, the Wildwood water tower is done in a column shape and the Cape May tower is done in a ball shape with legs.
If I had my way...each water tower would have a beautiful coastal design painted on it. Perhaps humpback whales, dolphins, sharks and other marine life. Sort of like those painted designs you see on various Wyland Whaling Whales...yup designs like those would really dress up these water towers for sure!

I agree that the water towers would make a better and more attractive tourist attraction if they had a mural painted on each of them. It is interesting how they differ in shape.
