Philadelphia is one of those big cities that you need to visit at least once in your lifetime. The city is known for it's culture, art scene, music scene, fine dining and for it's history. The city has always played a prominent role in our country's formation and history.
When visiting Philly...we always recommend a visit to The Franklin Institute which we covered here on our blog in the past. You can re-visit that post and learn more about the institute and the Vatican Splendors exhibit that we had the opportunity to check out.
One thing that we never touched upon in that post was the Ben Franklin Memorial at The Franklin Institute and wanted to highlight that for you today. It's a gorgeous memorial located in the rotunda where you can learn all about Philadelphia's most famous resident. It's a 20 foot high statue of one of the most famous people in the world!
The memorial is open to the public (no admission fee) during the same hours that the institute is open (see their web site for hours of operation). What's really cool is that you can get pretty close to it and get some really fantastic photos of it. On top of that, you can learn all about Ben Franklin too!
If you love history and science...The Franklin Institute is a definite must-see and must-do experience when visiting Philadelphia in Pennsylvania. To learn more, visiting our original The Franklin Institute blog post for in-depth information and photos from our trip.
