Recently we had the opportunity to visit the Adventure Aquarium in Camden New Jersey. This was our second visit to the aquarium, but the first visit for our grandchildren. We are located in south central Pennsylvania, so it took us less 2 1/2 hours of driving time to reach it.
The Adventure Aquarium is one of the best aquariums to visit in the mid-Atlantic States (in our honest opinion) and they have a ton of hands-on, family-friendly activities that the kids can enjoy. Matter of fact, adults will enjoy them too!
When you visit, you'll find penguins, frogs, sharks, star fish, all kinds of different fish species, crabs, turtles, eels, octopus, seahorses, sea & shore birds, hippos, sea nettle, jellyfish, stingrays and more! If you love marine life or any type of animal that lives in or near the water, you'll enjoy your visit!
One of the things the grandchildren enjoyed doing was getting up close & personal with several different species. They were able to touch (pet) a few of them and they absolutely loved watching a few of the "daily" feeding shows. They specifically loved watching the hippos get fed! Hello Button and Genny! Who knew that hippos could be so cute?
The entire family really enjoyed the "Touch a Shark" exhibit located in Zone A. If you've never touched a shark before, I highly recommend it. In my opinion, their skin felt a lot like fine-grade sandpaper to me! If you have an interest in sharks, you'll find several different species of them at the aquarium, including the famous hammerhead shark!
The Adventure Aquarium in Camden has all kinds of different educational programs that you can participate in. You can find a list of them on their website or inquire about them after entering the building. Looking to save a little bit of money? Check out their site for special offers before you go.
We really enjoyed our second visit to the Adventure Aquarium and are already planning another visit next year. If you don't live close by, you'll find hotels and motels nearby...along with plenty of places to eat. If you enjoy shopping, you'll find that too!

This sounds like a marvelous aquarium to visit. I would love to be able to touch a shark and watch hippos being fed.
