A few weeks ago we took the entire family down to
Hersheypark for a fun-filled day of amusement park rides, games, splashes in the waterpark and of course...they had a lot of fun! If you've never been to Hersheypark, it is one of the main attractions when you visit
Hershey in Pennsylvania.
If you're a fan of amusement parks and roller coasters, I'm sure you've heard of the Sooper-Dooper-Looper, SkyRush and the Comet roller coasters which are world famous! Let's not forget about the famous Kissing Tower where couples can enjoy a sweet kiss at the top of this fun ride while getting one of the best views of Hershey and the surrounding area.
The first time that I visited Hersheypark was back in 1980 and I've seen it grow over the years. Matter of fact, I think we've visited the park every year since then! We've seen them add more thrilling rides, new roller coasters over the years and now they have the fun boardwalk where you can splash around & get wet on a hot summer day.
My husband is a roller coaster type-of-guy and so is my granddaughter. Every year they look forward to riding on the Sooper-Dooper-Looper, the Comet (an old wooden track roller coaster), the Great Bear and Storm Runner. Personally, I prefer to keep my feet a lot closer to the ground!
Brand new for the 2017 summer season is the Hershey Triple Tower where you can decided which tower you want to ride. The Hershey's Tower stands 189 feet tall, the Reese's Tower stands 131 feet tall and the Hershey's Kisses Tower stands 80 feet tall. From what I understand, it's the first ride of it's type in the United States.
Throughout the park you'll be treated to a variety of seasonal on-site shows. Our granddaughter enjoyed the "Our Friends from the Sea" that's held in the Aquatheatre and she really enjoyed meeting some of the Hershey's Characters! My husband really enjoyed listening to the "Cocoa Rhythm Factory" drummer's band. They really offer a nice variety of entertainment for all age groups to enjoy.
Connected to the park is the famous ZooAmerica North American Wildlife Park (the Hershey Zoo), where you can view some fantastic animal exhibits of North American animals in their habitats. Your admission to the zoo & wildlife park is included in your admission price into Hersheypark. You'll want to enter the zoo via the entrance that is connected to the amusement park.
When visiting the park you'll find plenty of places where you can grab a bite to eat and get something to drink. There are places where you can sit down to relax and just "people watch" if that's more your style. After you're done having all of your fun, you can stop at one of the gift shops on the way out to pick up some fun souvenirs and gifts.
Planning a visit? You'll want to visit the Hersheypark website before you go to find out their hours of operation, any current specials that they may be running, updates on current in-park shows & entertainment and so forth. You'll want to wear comfortable clothing that's appropriate for the current season and please...wear appropriate footwear! Flip-flops, high-heels and slip-on sandals are NOT appropriate for amusement park rides!
We had a great time on our annual visit down to Hersheypark and we look forward to returning again next year!
