Over the next couple of months we'll be exploring Lancaster County and featuring a lot of fun things you can see and do during your visit. To kick things off, we took a little day trip down to Lancaster and here's a sampling of what we were able to fit in (no particular order).
1. Dutch Haven Shoo-fly Pie Bakery - If you've never tried a piece of shoo-fly pie, you're really missing out! Dutch Haven is located at 2857A on Lincoln Highway East. You can't miss it as it's the famous windmill building decked out in dark red, yellow and white colors. In addition to Shoo-fly pies you an shop their store for handmade jams, jellies, preserves, Amish-made crafts, Amish-made furniture, gifts, souvenirs, cookbooks and more!
2. National Christmas Center & Museum - We love Christmas and everything that goes along with it. We stopped into the National Christmas Center and took a wonderful tour through the museum. From start to finish...we spent 90 minutes there which included the museum tour and a little bit of shopping in the gift shop. You'll find them located at 3427 on Lincoln Highway East.
3. Miller's Smorgasbord Restaurant - We worked up an appetite and decided to dine at Miller's Smorgasbord Restaurant for a late lunch/early dinner. You can choose to dine one of three ways: Traditional Smorgasbord, Soup & Salad Smorgasbord/Buffet or select something from the Ala Carte Menu. Our early dinner was absolutely delicious and we'll definitely be dining there again. You'll find Miller's located at 2811 on Lincoln Highway East.
4. Rockvale Outlets Mall - Every time we go down to Lancaster, I always stop in to the Rockvale Outlets to do a little bit of shopping. One of my favorite stores to shop in is the QVC Outlet Store. I also enjoy visiting the New Balance, Five and Below, and Pepperidge Farm stores. You'll find the Rockvale Outlets located right off Lincoln Highway East on 2341 Rockvale Road.
5. Lost Treasure Mini Golf - My family LOVES to play miniature golf and we play the game as often as we can! We spotted the Lost Treasure Golf right on Lincoln Highway East (near Dutch Wonderland) and just had to stop to play! You can choose to play miniature golf from 2 different courses that they offer. I have to admit, this was one of the BEST courses that we've played in a very long time!
We certainly had a busy day having some fun down in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. Beyond the Amish, there are hundreds of fun things for you to see and do! Over the next few months, we'll be featuring some of these great places for you to enjoy.
