We enjoy visiting
Lancaster County in
Pennsylvania which is best known for their Amish communities. However, that's not all that Lancaster County has to offer! You'll find great museums, art galleries, restaurants, wineries, theaters, shopping, camping, amusement parks and of course, the Amish attractions too.
On a recent 5-day and 4-night trip down to Lancaster County we enjoyed all kinds of different things. When we travel, we run almost non-stop, trying to cram in everything that we possibly can. Today we wanted to share with our readers some of the great things you can see and do while visiting the area.
1. Mount Hope Estate Winery and Gift Shop - Located along Lincoln Highway East right outside of Lancaster you'll find their satellite location where you can go in and purchase local wines and wine accessories. Their main winery and location is located in Manheim if you want to visit their main location.
2. Miller's Restaurant and Smorgasboard - Located along Lincoln Highway East, right outside of Lancaster you'll find one of the award-winning restaurant that offers casual and fine dining options. Miller's can get extremely busy during the lunch and dinnertime hours, so trying going in-between. Their food is delicious and well-worth your visit.
3. Sight and Sound Theater - If you're a Christian and enjoy seeing the bible come to life...you'll want to see a show at the Sight and Sound Theater, located in Ronks Pennsylvania. The biblical-based shows change every couple of months, so visit their website for a current show schedule and to purchase tickets online.
4. Rockvale Outlets - The Rockvale Outlets are located right along Lincoln Highways East and are a shopper's paradise. You'll find designer and name brand stores, along with some local shops to visit. If you're looking to save even more money, stop by the mall office to pick up a money-saving coupon book before visiting the stores.
5. Kitchen Kettle Village - Located in Intercourse Pennsylvania is where you'll find the unique shopping experience known as Kitchen Kettle Village. You'll find 42 on-site shops and restaurants that are sure to please! Kitchen Kettle Village is always on my list when visiting the area.
6. Dutch Haven Shoo-Fly Pies Bakery - Located right along Lincoln Highway East is Dutch Haven which offers the best Shoo-Fly Pies in the entire area, at least in my honest opinion! You can shop for delicious handmade baked goods and specialty selected gifts in their gift shop.
7. American Music Theatre - Located along Lincoln Highway East you'll find this 1,600 seat music theater that hosts more than 300 performances every year. You can visit their site to get an updated list of upcoming performances and to purchase tickets online.
8. National Christmas Center and Museum - Located along Lincoln Highway East in Ronks, you'll find this fun Christmas museum. They're open year-round and is a family-friendly holiday attraction. The museum has an on-site gift shop where you can shop for Christmas decorations, ornaments and holiday collectibles.
9. Strasburg Rail Road - Located on Gap Road in Ronks Pennsylvania (about a 15 minute drive from Lancaster) you'll find the Strasburg Rail Road. You can take a ride on a steam-powered train, attend one of their family-friendly events (
A Day Out with Thomas) and do other fun on-site activities.
10. Amish Horse and Buggy Rides - There are several companies in Lancaster County that offer Amish horse and buggy rides through the surrounding area. You ride on a horse & buggy and get to see the Amish working on their farms and the beautiful countryside. You can check out some of our personal recommendations
