The historic Lincoln Cemetery is located in Harrisburg, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania. The cemetery was built and put into operation in 1827 and houses the remains of some of the more famous people from the local area. The cemetery is a gated & fenced-in property and only open for visitors during certain times. If you're unfamiliar with the area, you'll find it located on 30th Street and Boozer Avenue in Harrisburg.
Right in front of Lincoln Cemetery you'll find the official historical marker that states the following:
Lincoln Cemetery
A landmark of central Pennsylvania's African American history. Established in 1827 by Wesley Union A.M.E. Zion Church. Among those buried here are T. Morris Chester, William Howard Day, Catherine McClintock, and at least 20 veterans of the Civil War.
By: 1994 by Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission.
On the day that we visited the cemetery the weather was cold, windy and dreadful. There was snow on the ground and the property was closed to visitors. The photographs were taken by us in February 2018. For an old cemetery, it's extremely well-kept and I'm hoping to visit the historic cemetery on a day that they're open and during better weather.
