Endangered Blue Whales Wall Mural by David Dunleavy

Endangered Blue Whales Wall Mural by David Dunleavy
A few years ago I stumbled upon one of David Dunleavy's wall murals in Cape May, New Jersey and have been drawn to his artwork ever since. Matter of fact, I purposefully travel around the tri-state area looking for his murals to photograph.

David Dunleavy is one of the most talented sealife artists in the entire world and I love his artwork! I've documented several of his wall murals over the past few years right here on our travel blog. You can find them listed under the Street Art and Wall Murals category.

Several weeks ago we took a weekend trip down to Ocean City in New Jersey to just get away for a few days and had a great time! During our stay we went out and hunted down David Dunleavy's "Endangered Blue Whales" wall mural. You can find it on the side of a building up on the Ocean City boardwalk. Just look for the Fudge Kitchen store and you'll find it on the right side of their building.

The outdoor wall mural measures approximately 140 feet long by 35 feet high. I couldn't fit the entire mural into one photograph, due to tourists being up on the boardwalk and obstructing my view. Maybe I'll make it down there again sometime and no one will be around, so I can get the correct angle to photograph it.

According to the information I found online, this wall mural was dedicated by the artist on September 16th, 2007. He wanted to raise awareness for the endangered blue whales and hawksbill sea turtles. It's a gorgeous mural with some sun-fading over the years, but other than that...it still looks great!

If you're unfamiliar with the Ocean City, New Jersey boardwalk and area...you'll want to head to the Wonderland Gillian's Amusement Rides Pier down at the end of the boardwalk. Start walking from there up towards the Music Pier and you'll see the wall mural a few blocks up and on the right. If you love outdoor street art and/or sealife wall murals, this one is worth checking out!
