The Yankee Stadium is located in the Bronx, New York and was approximately a 2 hour and 45 minute drive from central Pennsylvania. We went to a home game during a weekend, which helped us to avoid weekday rush-hour traffic. The Bronx is a borough in New York City, you'll want to map out the best route before you plan your trip.
This is a newer baseball stadium that opened in 2009 and cost $2.3 billion dollars to make. Wow, that's one expensive stadium. However, as you walk through and around the stadium, you'll totally see how that money was spent! According to Wikipedia, it was the most expensive stadium ever built.
You'll want to dress appropriately for the season and wear comfortable walking shoes. You'll be doing a lot of walking from your parked vehicle to inside and around the stadium. Some of that includes climbing steps and so forth.
As you walk around you'll see all kinds of different in-house concession stands where you can grab a bite to eat or a something to wet your whistle. You'll also find numerous Yankee Fan Shops where you can pick up jerseys, pennants, souvenirs and all kinds of other gift items that revolve around the New York Yankees team. I found that a lot of these items were expensive, so I only picked up 2 small things during our visit.
I was really impressed with all of the awards, memory walls, player dedications, etc. that you'll see around the interior and exterior of the stadium. When you see them, it helps to really put into perspective how successful the Yankees have been over the years and how many extraordinary players they've had. One of the most successful MLB teams ever!
The Yankees won that particular home game and we had a great time watching them play and visiting Yankee Stadium! The drive was a lot nicer than we thought it would be and we are hoping to catch another NY Yankees home game again next year!
