The
Eagle Rock Reservation Park is a beautiful 400+ acre park located in West Orange, New Jersey. This park has a lot to offer visitors such as:
* Scenic Views of New York City (at Lookout Point)
* Horseback Riding Trails
* Hiking Trails
* Picnic Areas
* Scenic Overlooks
* Plus More!
One of the reasons that we wanted to visit this park was to see the Essex County 9/11 Memorial. The memorial honors those who lost their lives and the emergency personnel who responded to this horrible tragedy. We will never forget those who lost their lives that day and will continue to pray for their family and friends. It is important to remember and to honor them. The memorial was dedicated on October 20th, 2002.
In 2011, a 7,400 lb. steel and concrete piece of the World Trade Center was installed in the park along with a bronze plaque recognizing the bravery of emergency medical technicians who responded at Ground Zero on that fateful day. You'll find many different type's of memorials at the park, so you'll want to take your time viewing them.
There is a beautiful Wall of Rememberance that lists the names of the 3,000 people who lost their lives on September 11th, 2011 during the terror attacks on the Twin Towers in New York City, New York, the Pentagon in Washington D.C. and the four airline flights. The Wall of Rememberance is a 120 foot granite wall.
We really enjoyed our visit to the Eagle Rock Reservation Park and are already planning a second visit, so that we can bring along our family. It helps us all to remember such an important thing in our country's history and a way for many of us to honor those who lost their lives on 9/11.
You can learn more about the park by visiting the
