Inner Harbor is a tourist destination and historic seaport located in
Baltimore, Maryland. The Inner Harbor is located at the mouth of Jones Falls a branch of the Patapsco River. The area is comprised of tourist attractions, retail businesses, restaurants, hotels and is home to Camden Yards, the Baltimore Orioles home field.
Once a year we like to plan a day trip down to
Inner Harbor for a little bit of family fun. We're located in south central Pennsylvania and it takes us approximately 2 1/2 hours to get there by car. Of course, your travel time will depend on what day of the week and time that your're traveling. We find weekends to be the best time to visit Inner Harbor.
While on a recent day trip down to Inner Harbor, here are some of the activities that we enjoyed in no particular order.
National Aquarium - is located on 501 E. Pratt Street and is open year-round. You can purchase your tickets online (recommend) or at the door once you arrive. While at the National Aquarium you'll have the opportunity to see sharks, jellyfish, dolphins, sea turtles, stingrays, horseshoe crabs, starfish, eels, bullfrogs, crocodiles, lizards, flying foxes, snakes, various birds, diamondback terrapins, bullfrogs, a variety of different fish species and so much more!
Ripley's Believe It or Not Odditorium - is located on 301 Light Street and is open year-round. You can purchase tickets online or at the door once you arrive. It's the only place in Baltimore where you’ll find shrunken heads, a 12ft tall scrap car parts sculpture, the fiji island mermaid, one-of-a-kind artwork, tons of hands-on interactives, and sculptures made out of matchsticks!
Hard Rock Cafe - is located on 601 E. Pratt Street and is open year-round. It's within walking distance of the National Aquarium and Ripley's Believe It or Not. We stopped into the Hard Rock Cafe for a late lunch/early dinner. While you're waiting for your meal you can check out some of their memorabilia that they currently have on display. You'll see an outfit worn by Prince, a vest worn by Shakira and a flask that was once owned by Jimi Hendrix.
Oriole Park at Camden Yards - is located just a few blocks away from the waterfront and is home to the Baltimore Orioles Major League Baseball team. We enjoyed an early evening baseball game and had a lot of fun! After the game the audience & fans were treated to a fireworks show.
Shopping - All around the waterfront area you'll find various retail stores that offer all kinds of different items. We spent a good 2 hours exploring these stores and picking up a few gifts and souvenirs.
We had a great time spending the day down at Inner Harbor in Baltimore and are hoping to plan a weekend getaway next! There are a ton of great things for you to see and do while visiting the area.
