We personally own and use the Official Gettysburg National Park Guidebook every time we visit the Gettysburg Battlefield. If you've never visited the battlefield before, it's quite vast in size...taking up approximately 6,000 acres. The 24 mile self-guided auto tour starts at the Gettysburg National Military Park Museum & Visitor Center.

The tour goes all over Gettysburg and you'll come across approximately 1,400 monuments and memorials. This guidebook includes a battlefield map and what I really like is the in-depth history that you get when you read this book. It takes everything that you learn during your trip and it expands that knowledge even more.

The book is broken down into color-coded sections, so that you can easily find what you're looking for. There is a great 2-day suggested itinerary at the beginning of the book to help you get started and to help you schedule in your time. It's jam-packed with information and beautiful photographs to help tell the story.
