Educational and Humbling Experience at the Forgotten Warriors Vietnam Museum

The Forgotten Warriors Vietnam Museum, Rio Grande, New Jersey
The Forgotten Warriors Vietnam Museum is located in Rio Grande, New Jersey, at the Cape May Airport on Forrestal Road. The museum is open year-round with free admission and free parking. If you're going to be traveling to Stone Harbor, Wildwood, and Cape May...it's within a 20 minute drive from the coast.

Upon arrival you'll find a beautiful Vietnam Warriors Memorial sitting outside to the front of the parking lot. Please walk up to it, read it and pay your respects. Standing there in front of the memorial was a really humbling experience. God bless all of our American troops!

As soon as we entered the building we were greeted by owner who is a disabled Vietnam Vet. He gave us a little bit of history about his service and the history of the museum. If I had to sum things up, a lot of what you'll see in the museum is from his personal collection and items that have been donated or are on loan to him for the museum. Things you really won't see in other places.

There is no admission fee, but they do have a donation box by the front door...so please consider leaving a donation. Remember, the price of freedom is never really free. We all need to educate ourselves about the history of our country, our military, and we need to do everything we can to support them and their families.

You're free to roam around the museum at your own leisurely pace. The owner is available to answer any questions that you may have. He does not follow you around, or pester you. After the initial introduction...you're free to wander around. Cameras are welcome, but please be aware that lighting isn't the best, so you will need flash if you intend on taking photographs.

My wife and I spent about 40 minutes checking out everything that was on display. We got to see old military uniforms, gear, photographs, pins, medals, etc. There is a large collection of die-cast models that are on display and the owner told us that all of them were built by a gentleman in Pennsylvania who then shipped them down to him. If you're into models, I think you'll really appreciate them.

In my honest opinion, this museum isn't for small children. It's for adults who want to learn more about the Vietnam War and the soldiers who were there. It's not your typical military/war type of museum, it's more of a veteran's personal collection and items donated to him and the museum. With that said, you will learn a lot and will see things that perhaps you never seen before.

If you're going to be visiting the Wildwood Naval Air Station Museum at the Cape May Airport, this museum sits right across the street and is a nice stop before or after your visit to the NAS Museum. Looking for something to eat after your visit? The Flight Deck Diner sits right across the street too!
