The historic Cape May County Court House was built in 1850 by local master builder and architect, Daniel Hand. Cape May Court House has been the county seat since 1765 and is located in southern New Jersey. If you're unfamiliar with the area, Cape May Court House is a small community that sits between Ocean City and Cape May in New Jersey. Cape May Court House is a different community than Cape May.
Recently we spent the day in Cape May Court House and blogged about our visit to the historic Cape May County Court House. You can check out our previous post with information and photos
HERE.
Today we wanted to highlight the Cape May Revolutionary Patriot Memorial that sits on the court house property. Matter of fact, if you're standing in front of the court house...you'll see this memorial to your left. We love stumbling upon memorials like this and documenting them here on our blog. Here's some additional information about it.
Cape May Revolutionary Patriot Memorial
This tablet is dedicated by the Cape May Patriots Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution to the memory of the Cape May patriots who fought in the War of the American Revolution 1775-1783, those who were members of the Provincial Congress or Committee of Safety – and those who took the oath of allegiance to the cause of the colonies.
(underneath the inscription are a ton of names...way too many for me to read from my photograph).
The memorial is by: Cape May Patriots Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution.
