A few years ago my great uncle passed away and left me several boxes of old postcards. After his passing I briefly looked through them and then packed them away. Last weekend I decided to get one of the boxes out and discovered several old postcards featuring the Pennsylvania State Capitol Building in Harrisburg.
The artwork on these postcards is incredible! It's like stepping back in time and taking a look at what the Capitol Building looked at during those times. There's no date any where on the three postcards. I was hoping to find one to help date them...but as far as I can tell, no date is on them.
One of my personal favorites is the one shown in the photograph above. It features embossing work and really stands out. All three of them state that they depict the NEW Pennsylvania State Capitol. Yes, the word NEW is included on all three.
There are over 100 postcards in the box that feature tourist sites in Pennsylvania, old historic buildings, bridges, etc. and all of the postcards pre-date the 1960's. Over the coming months we'll share a few more of these historic images on the travel blog for the history buffs to enjoy.
