Saturday, September 18th, 2021 the town of Hummelstown hosted their Fall Arts Festival. If you're unfamiliar with the area, Hummelstown is located between Harrisburg and Hershey in Pennsylvania. The town has a long history and was a major traveling hub situated along the Union Canal. As you drive down Main Street you'll see old buildings, historic churches, mom and pop shops, residences, and more.
The Arts Festival was held on Main Street which was blocked off for several blocks. You had to find your own parking on one of the side streets. We had to park about 4 blocks away but at least parking was free.
One of the things that really impressed us was the wide variety of different vendors that were there. You could shop for artisan foods, beautiful artwork, yard and garden items, home decor, jewelry, candles, soaps and body lotions, wood crafts, holiday decor, and more. There was something for everyone and prices were totally reasonable.
You could of asked for better weather. The temperatures were unseasonably warm at around 85 degrees. Beautiful blue skies with plenty of sunshine had everyone out and about. There was a steady stream of visitors shopping all day long. It was busy, but not overly crowded. There was plenty of room for everyone.
Off of the Main Street they had a section blocked off for all of the food trucks and food vendors. You could buy chicken, hot dogs, hamburgers, pizza, soft pretzels, ice cream, funnel cakes, and beverages. It's always nice to grab a bite to eat from a local, small town vendor.
We enjoy visiting local art festivals and craft shows as it's a way to for us to support local businesses in and around our community. This is the very definition of shop and buy local. If you're looking for hometown events like this...you can usually find them being advertised on Facebook. That's how we found this one!
We're hoping that they host another one next year and expand it even more! We would love to see a 2-day weekend Arts Festival with more vendors and live music. We had a great time and wouldn't hesitate in attending the event next year too.
