Arooga's Grille House & Sports Bar has several locations in the Harrisburg, Pennsylvania area. We decided to go for a late lunch at Arooga's located on Linglestown Road during a Friday afternoon. We wanted to get there and dine before the weekend crowd.
It had been several years since we last visited Arooga's so we were really looking forward to visiting. We were seated within 1 minute upon entering the building. We were placed in a section that had no other patrons. Nice! Our serve obtained our beverage order immediately and handed us some menus. She returned 5 minutes later to obtain our orders.
I ordered barbecue wings with french fries, my wife ordered a burger with sweet potato fries and we shared a LARGE soft pretzel with 3 dipping sauces as our appetizer. There's a lot to choose from on their menu...all kinds of different burgers, chicken wings, chicken wingers, steaks, soups and salads and their appetizer offerings are vast!
We started with that massively sized soft pretzel that came with 3 different dips. Oh my gosh, you want to talk about delicious? Yes...it was the BEST soft pretzel that we've enjoyed in a very long time! The 3 cheese dipping sauces were the perfect addition to the appetizer. This soft pretzel fills you up before your meal even hits the table!
About 20 minutes after our appetizer arrived on the table came our meals. Everything was prepared exactly as we had requested. Wife has some allergies and they made her burger exactly the way she needed it to be made. Everything was piping hot and well presented. The portion sizes were a little larger than I expected...that's a good thing!
As we ate our meal our server stopped by several times to see if we needed anything else and to give us beverage refills. Not once did I have to chase her down for anything. She was very attentive to our dining needs. As a bonus, she was friendly, knowledgeable and talkative!
The atmosphere on the afternoon that we visited was nice and quiet. That's why we went at 2:30 pm on a Friday afternoon. We were'nt looking for a noisy or busy dining experience. If you prefer quiet...go before the dinner crowd comes in. If you're looking to have some fun and be around a lot of people then you'll want to visit during the primetime hours and on weekends.
Our dining experience was fantastic! So much so, that we're already planning to return next month to try out some additional items that caught our eye on the menu. We're giving Arooga's a big two thumbs-up!!! A great place to visit for a casual dining experience.
