Looking for something fun to do during the winter season? If so, look around for Ice Sculpture Festivals in your local area or nearby cities. These festivals usually have all kinds of events associated with them like outdoor winter games, music, arts & crafts, food truck vendors, and other things going on too!
Last year we attended the Full Solar Eclipse Festival in Dunkirk, New York. At the same time the city was holding an Ice Sculpture Festival which we attended. It was the first time that we sat around to watch professional artists carve blocks of ice into something magnificient! Thankfully, it was held on a semi-mild temperature day which made it enjoyable.
One of the things that really surprised me was that it only took a little over 2 hours of time for him to do two full sculptures. He took his time and was in no hurry during the event. The two men stopped a few times to answer questions and to let us all take photographs as they went along. Very nice and talented artists!
So, if you're looking for something to do with the family this winter season...check out your area to see if any local Ice Sculpting Festivals are going on. This was the first one that we've attended and really enjoyed it. We're hoping to attend more!
